About Us

We provide real outdoor adventures for children aged 7-18 years old from May to October. Arriving at one of our safari-style tented camps based in the grounds of Blenheim Palace, students become fully immersed in the wilderness; sleeping under the stars, and cooking over open fires.

Whether they are learning first-aid techniques, building shelters or tackling an SOS scenario, our outdoor adventures are as real as you can get.

What it’s like to work for us?

There is nothing better than watching children run wild and connect with nature. Every day is so varied and exciting. It can start by singing a song while serving breakfast and lead on to creating a magical woodland shelter with sticks and mud.

The role really lets your imagination run wild and allows you to see children grow and open up to new experiences. One of the best parts of the job is encouraging an initially shy and timid child transform to a mud covered woodland creature running through the woods, living the dream, by the end of their stay.

The Bushcraft Company truly gives children an opportunity to learn in a different format from the traditional school curriculum. This supports children who might struggle elsewhere to really excel and realise their potential. It allows those high energy children a place to vent and be loud without feeling out of place.

For our staff, the woods has always been a somewhere I feel most comfortable and the ability to show that to the next generation is extremely fulfilling.

The type of jobs we recruit for?

We recruit for a range of seasonal roles, including camp instructors, camp managers, head chefs and kitchen assistants.

Camp instructor: Our Camp Instructors, known as Tribe Leaders, each lead a “tribe” of students on camp, guiding them through the many activities they will be doing during their stay with us. Activities range from archery and tomahawks to traditional bushcraft skills like fire lighting and shelter building. Previous bushcraft experience is a bonus, but all training will be provided in-house. With the support of your manager (Camp Leader), you will be responsible for the overall care of your tribe during their stay. (This may mean some night duty shifts as part of a rota with the wider camp team).

Camp manager: Each camp is made up of several tribes of students, and you’ll be managing the team of Camp Instructors (“Tribe Leaders”) that look after them, as well as the day-to-day running of camp. This includes demoing our activities and supporting your instructors as they guide the students through them in smaller groups. We will teach you everything that you will need to know so that you can ensure our high standards, quality, pastoral care, safeguarding, health and safety are maintained throughout. You’ll be responsible for managing those Tribe Leaders and the overall care of your camp, with the support of the Estate Team. (This may mean some night duty shifts as part of a rota with the wider camp team.)

Head chef: Each estate has its own fully equipped kitchen, and you’ll be managing the team of kitchen assistants to provide quality and nutritious food for the camps. This includes, leading your team to provide tasty meals and following all food regulation standards (food hygiene, Natasha’s law), managing the other kitchen staff to ensure is provided in a timely manner, and stock taking deliveries to ensure you have enough food for the camps. We will teach you everything that you will need to know so that you can ensure our high standards, quality, safeguarding, health and safety are maintained throughout. You’ll be responsible for managing those Kitchen Assistants and the overall care of your kitchen, with the support of the Estate Team.
