About Us
Scottish Autism is an organisation dedicated to enabling autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. Established in 1968 by a group of parents, we are now the largest provider of autism-specific services in Scotland and a leading authority and advocate for good autism practice. Autistic people are placed firmly at the heart of everything we do at Scottish Autism, and we are committed to ‘enabling autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives’, with a vision of ‘a world where autistic people are understood and enabled to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives as valued members of the community.’ As a charity we strive to raise public awareness and acceptance of autism, as many people can struggle to understand the multi-dimensional nature of autism. We also seek to share our knowledge and expertise with parents, carers and other professionals in order to support the development of skills and strategies needed to provide the best care and support for autistic people.
We offer a range of adult services including day, outreach and supported living services as well as supporting children and young people at New Struan School, Alloa. We also deliver a range of vocational opportunities where people are supported to develop work-based skills.
We have a dedicated team of Autism Advisors who are trained and experienced in working with autistic people. Each year we handle hundreds of calls and our advice line enables a direct first response to families looking for guidance, information, advice and support.

Excellent training on autism and our approach to working with autistic people is provided. If you believe in relationships, can work in line with our values and have an aptitude for learning about and working with people, investing in others and personal self-development, we need your qualities and talent. We are keen to start building a relationship with you and for you to consider joining us. Together we can achieve great things.
The type of jobs we recruit for?
Autism Practitioner is the job title we give to people employed who work directly to provide support to autistic people within our services. Autism practitioners usually work as part of a team. We use this title because our work is autism specific rather than general support work. Senior Autism Practitioners are leaders in services supporting teams, coordinating, providing expertise and overseeing service delivery to ensure high quality support to autistic individuals. We welcome those who are keen to learn about autism and supporting autistic people as well as those who are experienced and qualified. We very much value and welcome applications from autistic people and those with personal experience of autism within their family or community.
We are really interested in people who show aptitude in building relationships and have a genuine interest in supporting autistic people. Skills relating to supporting others are usually transferrable and we take on people from a range of backgrounds! Reliability and consistency are important to the people we support.
