About Us
Primary Care Sheffield (PCS), is an organisation set up and owned by the 70+ GP Practices across Sheffield. We run 7 GP practices, beyond these, we provide primary care services directly to patients, including: out of hour GP appointments, mental health services in primary care and the community, sexual health, physio, and training. We have over 200 people working for us, and as a NHS provider, we are able to provide benefits such as the NHS pension scheme to our staff.
Due to our size and the range of things we do, there is scope for individuals to build their experience rapidly and progress their careers effectively. This may be either in one of our GP Practices, or from our central / at-scale operations.
What it’s like to work for us?
We are essentially like working for a GP Practice, but bigger. If your role is based in one of our GP Practices, you will work closely with your team in the practice. However, there is always the potential to work in a different GP practice run by PCS to progress or provide new experience. In addition, there are opportunities to move into our at-scale / central/corporate operations. The workplace is similar to other NHS environments. We have a strong focus on our patients and delivering the best quality of service we can for them. Some or our practices are in the more deprived parts of Sheffield, and as such we focus hard on delivering the best way possible for their health needs.
You will be part of a close, focussed team, who support each other through the challenges that primary care (GP Practice work) can present. With the knowledge that there is plenty of scope to develop whilst at PCS.
The type of jobs we recruit for?
We are currently specifically recruiting for:Receptionists – in this role you will be responsible for engaging with patients as they present at the GP practice, ensuring they are put at ease and correctly managed, as they attend their appointment. “People skills” are key for this role, in addition to being organised and good with systems.
Administration roles – we have a range of administration roles that we are currently recruiting for. A good level of computer literacy is desirable, in addition to organisational skills, an eye for detail and an ability to work effectively within a team.
Health Care Assistants (HCAs) – HCAs make sure the patient experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. An HCA role can provide the ideal steppingstone into nursing or many other roles within the NHS. In our GP practices, HCAs often do things such as sterilise equipment, complete health checks, restock consulting rooms, process lab samples, do health education work and take blood samples.
