Learn by Design is a market leading Education Outreach company that has been working since 1995 to provide schools, children and young people with enriching educational experiences.

We are currently preparing to deliver Summer National Citizen Service (NCS programmes) all over the country and will be recruiting over 800 staff! All the roles are full-time and we are looking for dynamic, motivated people to work with us who can inspire others and who are resilient in a pressurised environment

NCS is a national youth programme open to 16 and 17 year olds in England over Summer and Autumn. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility.

The type of jobs we recruit for?

Type of Role: Full Time/Seasonal

Job Title: NCS Youth Leader and NCS Mentor

Salary: £901 to £1132 per 10 days of work

Adventure, discovery, social action, and celebration are the chapters in the NCS journey where you will be impacting young people's lives guiding them through a personal and social progression.

Depending on your experience there are several roles with Learn by Design NCS where you can gain paid youth work experience or grab some extra cash in the summer break while making a significant impact on a group of young people's lives. 
 
You will have the opportunity to continue working with us in future seasons, developing your skills to work in several roles on the programme. You can choose from the following roles:

NCS Mentor (Team Leader): As the Team Leader you will be responsible for the team of young people and supported by your Assistant Team Leader. You will facilitate and/or deliver timetabled workshops and reflection sessions in accordance with the guidelines and session plans provided. You will be the point of contact for the team and core staff, responsible for paperwork and communication.


NCS Youth Leader (Wave Leader): You will be responsible for mnanaging the staff team, through all phases of the programme. You will monitor the performance of Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders, establish a regular and accessible line of communication with parents/guardians, updating them at each stage of the programme. You will be the point of contact for staff, young people, and core staff, ensuring all information is passed on to the relevant people as well as meeting and communicating with the project manager


Person Requirements: We are looking for people who have experience of building a positive rapport with young people from a variety of cultural, economic, and social backgrounds. Excellent teamwork and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Well organised with a responsible attitude to paperwork and record-keeping. Experience of working in a demanding environment, and the ability to remain calm in tricky situations. Ability to inspire and motivate both teams and individuals to help them achieve their potential.
