About Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary

Hampshire is one of the most interesting places in the UK to police; home to more than two million people spread across sprawling countryside or within growing cities of Portsmouth, Southampton and northerly urban hubs. During the summer months the population swells even more with tourism, making our counties one of the largest policing areas in England and Wales.

We have not only retained a strong neighbourhood policing approach with officers and staff more closely aligned to the communities they serve, we also have strong national influence along with the largest non-metropolitan joint specialist unit in the UK. This has enabled us to manage events such as royal weddings and D-Day celebrations, ensuring the safety of local communities and world leaders.
