About Us

Balkerne Gardens Trust is a non-profit making organisation. The Trust was first established in 1833 and now offers a complete pathway of support and care. From our Care at Home domiciliary service and affordable sheltered housing through to residential, nursing, respite and palliative care.

Situated in the historic city centre of Colchester, we have created warm and friendly environments. Our staff teams are long-standing, dedicated and well-trained to provide individualised care and support, in well-equipped and comfortable facilities.

The Trust believes that our staff are our greatest asset. Without them, we would not be able to provide the high-quality individualised care that the Trust has an excellent local reputation for delivering. Many staff are long-standing and staff wellbeing is greatly important to the Trust. It has been said that working at Balkerne Gardens is like working with family!

Our services are welcoming and comfortable environments with up-to-date equipment for staff to work safely, and our managers encourage and provide opportunities for staff development and support them to succeed. Our services are based in or just outside of the city centre, so there are great transport links to get to and from work.
