About Us

Working with children is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and I am delighted you are considering joining the team at Mulberry Foster Care.

Whilst incredibly rewarding and exciting, there’s no getting around the fact that fostering is hard work. The hours are long and the progress can be slow. As a job description its no easy sell which is why what our carers do is so important. They provide care, love and family to some of the most challenging and complex young people in society; more importantly they do it well.

We have been social workers for over 15 years and we understand how the role of fostering can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Our foster carers feedback that they would not have this any other way as the rewards far out way the challenges. Seeing a child become confident, learn to trust others and gain love for themselves is what being a foster carer is all about.

Mulberry Foster Care have provided care for children including sibling groups, Children with disability’s, children who display sexualized behaviour, those with challenging behaviour, mental health issues and attachment Disorders. Each child is unique and brings something different to your family – humour and thick skin are essential, as are understanding, Compassion and ‘stickability’. Children can test you but making it through those difficult periods is worth all the effort.

The type of jobs we recruit for?

There are so many children throughout the Country who need the love, care, support and structure of a Foster Placement. However, there are simply not enough homes for these children and this is something Mulberry Foster Care are passionate about resolving. Just as there is diversity in fostered children, foster carers need to come from a variety of backgrounds and have different life experiences, skills and qualities to help meet the needs of children and young people in foster care. There are, however, some common criteria that most fostering services need from you:

to be at least 21 years-old (although by law you can apply to foster from 18)

to have a spare bedroom big enough for a young person to live in

to be a full-time resident in the UK or have leave to remain

to be able to give the time to care for a child or young person, often on a full-time basis
